Positive Buoyancy. Elijah is fitted with a "positive buoyancy - foam filled hull", and as such - will float even if fully swamped or capsized, or the hull is holed in any way. In ALL events (except a serious uncontrollable fire) - you should STAY WITH THE VESSEL, in the event of any mishap at sea, until rescued.
EPIRB. Elijah is fitted with a 121.5 MHz EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Rescue Beacon) which WILL bring rescue / help once activated.
Fire Extinguishers. Elijah is fitted with 2 x 5 Kilo dry powder Fire extinguishers in their recessed receptacles under the side of each helm seat. The worst possible accident at sea on ANY Boat is an uncontrollable fire. As Elijah is a PETROL powered craft, there is a strict NO SMOKING POLICY aboard Elijah for everyone's comfort & safety.
Life Jackets / Buoyancy vests. Life Preservers are available for everyone on board.
Bilge pumps. Elijah is fitted with TWO (2) separate Bilge pumping systems. ONE is electronic and hard wired to the vessels 12V batteries, and fitted with an automatically activated float switch below decks A SECOND, manual "Whale Gusher" type bilge pump is located Starboard (Right Hand) side Stern (Rear) corner of the vessel.
2 Way Distress Calling radio's. Vessel Elijah has two separate distress calling radio's. They are both located above the helm station on the Starboard side. One is a 27 MHz Marine Band 'CB' type radio and the other - a VHF (Very High Frequency) Marine Radio. They have an ORANGE Distress calling sticker, displaying what to say in the event of needing to call for help. Both are "pre set" to the emergency calling channels (Channel 88 for the 27 MHz set & Channel 16 for the VHF radio).
Flares. A round black 20 liter water tight drum, with a screw on lid, in the cabin contains all emergency rescue equipment including offshore flares.
Loud Hailer / Horn. A switch on the overhead dash switch panel activates the circuit and a horn button on the helm dash activates the horn.
Global Positioning System. (GPS). Elijah is fitted with 2 independent GPS systems. One is a dash mounted FURUNO color Chart Plotter / Echo sounder unit, from which a latitude and longitude position can be obtained to transmit by radio in the event of needing to call 'Mayday' for assistance. A second hand held waterproof Garmin ETREX Summit GPS unit is located within the Black round flares drum.
Satellite Telephone. A Hand held satellite telephone (Ericson/Vodaphone/ Globalstar) is also carried aboard in it's own pink waterproof container.
Sea Anchor. A nylon material sea anchor is located in the locker in the cabin.
First Aid Kit. A comprehensive First Aid kit is located under the Port (Left Hand) rear passenger seat. Both Skipper & Deckhand are qualified / trained First Aid providers.
Search Light. A stainless steel, remote operated, roof mounted search light is located on the cabin roof. The handle to direct it is located inside the wheel house above the helm seat. In the event of a 'Man Overboard' situation at night, the search light is to be kept trained on the person in the water at all times until they are recovered. The switch is located on the above windscreen switch panels.
Life Ring and Light Buoy. A life ring and light buoy are located on the Starboard (Right Hand) rear outside. In the event of a man overboard situation, the ring & light buoy are to be deployed straight away.
Anchor. An anchor is located in the Bow (pointy end) anchor locker, complete with chain & rope. Extra rope is located under the skippers seat, and a spare / 2nd Anchor + Rope is located in the locker under the rear starboard (Right hand side) passenger seat.
